The question about Eagles is not if their album Hell Freezes Over
goes into my mobile phone. No the question is why it never goes out?
Remember in the sixties in Sweden when I was in teens, some oldie guys said rock & roll will soon die.
Eagles have not though so I guess their prophecy was a slight miss.
"You can check out any time you like but you can never leave...".
American camp-fire rock group 'veterans' as they call themselves. Their persistent steel guitar arrangements, guitar play virtuosity and song style is something I can't shrug off easily so we go for yet another week here...
Title of this blog post is taken right from the Drive-By Truckers' website.
Listening to new album now and it sounds as impressive as their earlier releases.
Drive-By Truckers plays a raucous and rough Southern rock style stage rock.
'Get Downtown' is a bit under standard but the rest so far very good guitar
and organ based rythm rock. At times a bit like The Doors once was called
'orgiastic rock'. Very heavy and rythm based steady rock. Singers are not
rocks' strongest but very special to my taste. This Album goes into my phone and
'Broken Bells' goes out.
The Big To-Do
Perhaps not so well-known to everyone. This
elegant Canadian lady is a big no-no if you
are woman (or not?) or if you are very moralistic.
Warning if you are in the native English
zone: Do not listen to lyrics in title song.
This lady certainly is no innocent school girl.
Band plays extremely tight and guitars are
a nice game. This lady is very welcome and
well just start listening, what are u waiting for?..
Back To Me
Surely I would let this beauty cook in my kitchen!
But would she? Well, anyway I will definitely let
her fantastic album Stronger with each Tear
reside in my cell phone, another week at least.
No weak spots here folks. Just play!
The lovely Mary J now plays in Aretha Franklin
division!
Ok, a band totally unknown to me is called Broken Bell.
I noticed they reached the #1 spot on Amazon's best
selling mp3 albums chart today: Bestsellers in MP3 Albums
From Wikipedia: "Broken Bells is an American indie rock band
featuring artist–producer Danger Mouse (billed by his real name,
Brian Burton) and James Mercer, the lead vocalist and guitarist
for the Portland indie rock band The Shins."
From a quick check the band sounds as tight Indie Rock and
with a slight reggae touch. This is a must for my phone now.
Broken Bells Media Player
Hi, happy readers. Today I'll start with an album whose
persistence factor is high in my phone.
Mark Knopfler is in with his solo album: "Get Lucky"
but has difficulties leaving my phone...
'Hangman steps in to do what he is payed for....'
Mark is a very succinct rocker. Poised, calm,
dignified music with historical touch that compels me.
Chords run predominantly in minor for this contemplative
masterpiece.
Cleaning my gun: classic Dire Straits mode.
Favourites are: Before Gas and TV, So far from the Clyde, Piper to the End.
Get Lucky
